Turning Waste into Wealth: How Gloka Ventures is Powering Kumi with Biogas

In the heart of Eastern Uganda, Kumi Municipality is witnessing a quiet revolution—one that smells less like smoke and more like progress. At Gloka Ventures Ltd, we believe that the answers to our community’s biggest challenges often lie right beneath our feet. As a dynamic, youth-led holding company, our mission is to incubate and scale transformative projects that drive sustainable development and climate resilience.

Who We Are Gloka Ventures serves as an umbrella body for a diverse portfolio of initiatives ranging from agriculture and renewable energy to education and retail. Headquartered here in Kumi, we operate with a clear philosophy: “Local Knowledge and Action”. We don’t just build businesses; we build circular systems where nothing goes to waste. Whether it’s through our Hog4Education initiative supporting schools or our Gloka Duuka retail chain, we are committed to solving everyday problems through grassroots innovation.

The Biogas Revolution in Kumi One of our flagship successes has been the adaptation of biogas technology. For too long, families and schools have relied on expensive charcoal and firewood, contributing to rapid deforestation and indoor air pollution. Gloka Biogas is changing that narrative by converting livestock dung and organic waste into affordable, clean energy.

Our system provides a dual solution:

  1.

Clean Cooking Fuel: We provide households, schools, and farms with a reliable source of gas for cooking, significantly reducing the need to cut down trees.

  2. Organic Soil Solutions: The byproduct of our biogas process isn’t waste—it’s high-quality bio-slurry. Through Gloka Biofertilizer, we turn this residue into nutrient-rich compost that helps local farmers regenerate their soil and improve food security.

Looking Ahead The impact is already visible in Kumi Municipality, but we are just getting started. Our goal over the next five years is to reach over 30,000 households with these clean energy solutions. By embracing a circular economy, we are not only protecting our environment but also creating green jobs for youth and women in our community.

Join us as we build a thriving planet. Grow With Us.
